Ideal Colon Cleansing

Important statistics:

  • Colorectal Cancer is the second most common cause of Cancer Death in the US.
  • Each year, more than 50,000 people die from colorectal cancer in the US.
  • Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of death due to cancer for men and women combined. (Lung cancer is the first.)
  • Someone dies from colorectal cancer every 9.3 minutes.
  • More lives are lost each year to colorectal cancer than to breast cancer and AIDS combined.

The chance of cure is clearly related to the stage of the disease. Early cancers have an excellent prognosis while advanced cancers have a poor prognosis. Often Colorectal Cancer doesn’t give any symptoms at all until rather late in the disease.

Despite the enormous sums of money spent on health care each year, we are still one of the sickest nations in the world today. The reason can be attributed to the fact that now more than ever we are constantly exposed to chemicals, pesticides, food additives, heavy metals, and more importantly the decrease in the nutritional value of our diet. These elements can manifest themselves in many kinds of symptoms and ailments including fatigue, weak immune system, hormonal dysfunction, infertility, skin problems, psychological disorders and cancer. The most powerful tool available to us in order to prevent, alleviate, and reverse many of these acute and chronic conditions is a solid internal cleansing or detoxification therapy program. Once the body is allowed to catch up, then a specific dietary life-style change when indicated should be followed.

Internal Cleansing
Daily washing and baths not only rid the body of dirt and odors, but also help destroy bacteria. Sanitation is absolutely essential for controlling the spread of infectious diseases. Internal cleansing works in much the same way. The body uses the colon, skin, lungs, kidneys and other organs to eliminate toxins as quickly as possible. But if these systems are clogged, sluggish or overburdened, the toxins back up into the body and can cause headaches, loss of energy, fatigue and aches and pains. Years of improper elimination can lead to the most severe health problems.

Internal cleansing is a preventive means to assist the body in keeping its channels of elimination open and cleansed so they can perform their vital functions. The practice of cleansing has existed for thousands of years and has played a central role in the lives of millions of people throughout the world. From an indigenous Hawaiian medicine perspective, cleansing the body of built up toxins would promote health and prevent degenerative disease.

Fasting
Fasting has also been used by many cultures as a way of cleansing the body’s internal systems. When fasting, the digestive system gets a rest, and the body begins to extract toxins and waste from its cells and tissues. Fasting should be monitored carefully because a drastic cleansing can release toxins too quickly which can cause severe cleansing reactions. Fasting is not for everyone however, since the body must have the proper amount of energy to handle this aggressive process. Also, a fast should be conducted under professional supervision especially if you have not done one before or do not know the right one for you. It is important to have a steam bath accessible during a fast to help assist the body’s elimination process.

Herbs
Herbs were the first medicines, and still provide the ingredients for primary health care in much of the world. Over half our modern drugs were originally derived from herbs. Herbs have profound healing abilities without the evil side effects of modern synthesized drugs. In looking for a good herbal cleansing product, it is important that the amount and variety of herbs used work together to promote cleansing, rebuild function, and avoid unnecessary cleansing reactions.

Fiber
Nearly all people throughout history have consumed high fiber diets, but its importance in nutrition was not accepted until recently. In the early 1970’s, Dr. Denis Burkitt of London, England was the first to make the medical community aware that the change to a low fiber diet in Western countries can be associated with increasing levels of constipation, intestinal polyps, hemorrhoids, heart disease, diverticular disease, appendicitis and colon cancer. This relationship has been repeatedly verified in subsequent research.

The Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for dietary fiber has not been determined yet, however, it is nonetheless essential for proper digestion and overall health and vitality. Americans typically consume only 11 grams of dietary fiber each day, far too small for any health preventative care regime. In fact, scientific organizations and the Surgeon General have recommended at least 20 to 35 grams per day. The low fiber intake in the U.S. is one of the reasons there is such a need for internal cleansing. Dietary fiber has been defined as the substances in food that are not digested and absorbed in the small intestine. Some examples are: cellulose, hemicellulose, pectin, gums and lignin. This undigested substance performs the following essential functions that help to maintain health:

  1. Improved bowel functioning. Dietary fiber absorbs water in the intestines to provide bulk and soften the stools. This allows bowel movement with little or no straining. The hemicellulose type fiber is essential because of its ability to absorb released toxins and aid in elimination from the body.
  2. Decreased transit time. Increased daily fiber intake will decrease the time it takes for the food you eat to pass through your 20-30 feet of intestinal tubing and be eliminated in a bowel movement. Rapid transit time encourages health because environmental and dietary toxins have less time to be in contact with the colon lining and less chance to be reabsorbed into the bloodstream (autointoxication).
  3. Lowers Cholesterol. Some fibers have been shown to lower LDL cholesterol in the body, while actually raising the valuable and protective HDL cholesterol level.
  4. Protects against chronic degenerative diseases. Fiber’s anti-toxic properties, its ability to nourish the growth of lactobacteria, its sweeping action in the colon and its swelling action which results in softer, bulkier stools all contribute to long term health.

Who Needs Internal Cleansing? Do you experience?

  • Constipation, diarrhea, sluggish elimination, irregular bowel movements.
  • Frequent headaches with no apparent cause.
  • Skin problems, rashes, boils, pimples, and acne.
  • Frequent congestion, colds, and virus.
  • General aches and pains that migrate from one place to another.
  • Low back pain.
  • Lowered resistance to infections.
  • Low energy, loss of vitality for no apparent cause.
  • Needing to sleep longer at night.
  • Flatulence and frequent stomach disorders.
  • Bad breath and foul smelling stool.
  • Allergies, intolerance to certain foods, especially fatty ones.
  • Premenstrual syndrome, breast soreness, vaginal infections.

If you have severe symptoms or any serious disorders, of course seek the attention of a health care professional. The above list is meant only to indicate some of the symptoms of autointoxication. It is safe to say that most people would definitely benefit from periodic internal cleansing, especially if you live in an urban community.

Criteria for a Cleansing Program

In my 25 plus years of clinical experience in nutritional counseling and internal cleansing I found it necessary to develop essential guidelines for an effective cleansing program that could meet the following minimum standards:

  • It must clear toxic waste and mucus out of the body, which is a problem source that may develop into a difficult disease process.
  • Give clients foods (herbs) that are of the highest vibratory quality that can rebuild the vital parts of the body.
  • Provide herbal formulas and corrective aids to facilitate the healing and regeneration of the whole body.
  • The foundation for natural healing to take place is that you must thoroughly cleanse your organs of elimination and your bloodstream before you can expect anything else to work!
  • It must be easy to use and convenient.

There should not be any cleansing reactions. The first 3 days is the actual fasting period and on the 4th and final day we break the fast with meals prepared together with Dr. Yates. Most of the time this program is held at a retreat center depending what Country or State it is held in. From time to time it is modified where that seawater formula flush is done at home or hotel room then after 9:30 a.m. everyone gathers for morning health awareness sessions, meditation and consultations. The purpose of this program is to bring independence so that each person will be able to repeat the fast without supervision.

The fasting period will include flushing the alimentary canal (digestive tract) with a sea water base formula, taking herbs in juices for the cleansing of the colon and parasites, a private consultation with Dr. Yates, Hawaiian meditation techniques (ha mo’o), ho’oponopono concepts (correcting imbalances within that cause stress, unhappiness and disease), protective energetic seal techniques, and Hawaiian healing chants. Depending where this program is held there is a Hawaiian sweat during the fasting period.
